The game was a strong sequel to Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, an early Nintendo Switch title that also came as a surprise due to crossing Super Mario Bros. While its existence is still an anomaly, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope surprised and delighted fans when it was released in October 2022.
